The Twelve Days of Christmas Blog...Visit Everyday to Win a Gift Card!

Historically, the twelve days of Christmas began on Christmas day and lasted until Epiphany (January 6th).

I'm starting mine today, on December 12th, and ending on December 23rd for several reasons.  First, I'm giving out a recipe every day and who wants to cook after the 23rd?  You should have your feet up on the 24th!  The second reason is that December 12th is my husband's birthday.  For me, this is the true start of the holiday season.  I hate to have my husband's birthday get lost in holiday hoopla, so I postpone many of our family holiday activities until after the 12th.

12 Days of Christmas Blog Giveaway:
In addition to posting a recipe, I'll be asking a trivia question each day.  At the end of the 12 Days, if you answered one of my trivia questions or if you left a comment here, you will be entered to win a $25.00 gift card to your choice of either Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

That's 2 ways to enter to win the gift card:
1.  Send a trivia question answer to me at: annlawrencetrivia@gmail.com
**DO NOT ANSWER IN THE COMMENT SECTION!**
2.  Make a comment on my blog.

Trivia Question #1
How many total (cumulative) gifts are given to the true love over the 12 days?

Recipe #1
Here is the first of my recipes.  I'm posting this first for 2 reasons.  One, I posted it incorrectly at Fresh Fiction when I was blogging there.  Although it has been corrected, I feel very bad that it was wrong in the first place.  I'm imagining all those people who might use that recipe and think...yuck!

The second reason is that in my holiday book, CHRISTMAS IN SAVAGE BAY, Kara Sinclair isn’t sure if she’s really attracted to the hero, Reed Savage, or if she’s just had too much wassail!  Here’s "Kara's" recipe (This one is correct!).

Holiday Wassail
Ingredients:
6 cups apple juice or cider
1 cinnamon stick
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4  cup honey
3 Tablespoons lemon juice
18 ounces of pineapple juice
Orange slices for garnish (can decorate them with cloves)
1/4 cup rum (Optional and adjust amount to personal taste.)

Directions:
Heat the apple juice or cider with the cinnamon stick until boiling.  Reduce the heat, cover and simmer for five minutes.  Uncover and stir in the remaining ingredients.  Simmer for 5 more minutes.  Transfer to a crock pot to keep warm and garnish with the orange slices. Makes 16 1/2 cup servings.

Come back tomorrow for another recipe and trivia question!  REMEMBER TO EMAIL THE ANSWER TO THE TRIVIA QUESTION:  annlawrencetrivia@gmail.com

  2. Thank you Nicole! I loved Kara and Reed...it was hard to write "The End" when it was finished. I'm making sure they reappear in Book 2 (coming in June).
