Recipe #7
SPICED NUTS

This recipe makes a great gift.  They also freeze well.
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees
Ingredients:
1 lb. pecan halves
1 egg white
1 Tablespoon water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Line two cookie sheets with foil for easy cleaning.  Baking sheets should have sides!  Beat egg white with water until frothy but not stiff.  Fold in pecans and stir until coated.  In a separate bowl, combine the sugar, salt, and cinnamon.  Sprinkle over pecans and stir gently until pecans are coated with sugar mixture.  Spread on one cookie sheet.  Bake 45 minutes.  Be careful, do not let them burn!  After 15 minutes of baking time, place the second cookie sheet over the nuts and flip them over.  Finish baking.  Move the nuts on the foil to a wire rack to cool (if you leave them on the tray they will continue to cook).  When they are cool, break them apart and enjoy!  I overbaked mine a little today, so watch them carefully!  Here's a before and after:

  4. This recipe looks easy enough. Have you ever used other nuts besides pecans? How did they turn out?
